The easing of New Zealand’s travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to boost travel demand between the two nations, providing a much-needed lift to the UAE’s recovering tourism sector. With the advisory lowered from Level 3 to Level 2, New Zealanders can now travel to or transit through the UAE with increased caution, aligning with the UAE’s efforts to revitalize international tourism after regional disruptions.
Richard Kay, the New Zealand Ambassador to the UAE, expressed his approval of the updated guidance, noting that it allows travelers to visit or transit through the country while staying alert and following local instructions. This change comes as part of a broader effort by the UAE to encourage more countries to ease travel warnings, thereby aiding its tourism and aviation industries.
In recent months, Dubai has witnessed a notable rebound in its tourism figures. August alone saw 869,000 international overnight visitors, marking the highest monthly count since February. Additionally, hotel occupancy rates have surged to 66% in August, up from a mere 36% in March, highlighting the region’s recovery trajectory.
The UAE’s push to restore its status as a major international travel hub is further supported by similar adjustments in travel advisories from other countries, although some still recommend caution. The revision by New Zealand is anticipated to strengthen bilateral travel ties as the UAE continues to rebuild its tourism infrastructure.
