Trump Names Pakistan, North Korea in List of Alleged Nuclear Testers

by admin477351

President Donald Trump has named Pakistan and North Korea, in addition to Russia and China, as countries he alleges are conducting secret nuclear tests. This claim was part of his justification for ordering a resumption of U.S. nuclear testing.
“Russia’s testing, and China’s testing, but they don’t talk about it,” Trump said on ‘60 minutes,’ before adding North Korea and Pakistan to the list. This is despite the fact that only North Korea is known to have conducted a nuclear detonation in recent decades.
China, one of the primary targets of his accusation, issued a firm denial. The foreign ministry stated that China is a “responsible nuclear-weapons state” committed to its testing suspension.
Trump had already announced the new U.S. policy on social media, writing that he had “instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis.”
He also boasted of U.S. nuclear might, claiming it has more weapons than any other nation and that Russia and China lag behind. The order has sparked fears of a new arms race.
