Israel’s Netanyahu: Only “Acceptable” Troops Will Enter Gaza

by admin477351

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that only troops “acceptable” to Israel will be permitted to enter Gaza as part of a planned international peacekeeping force. This assertion of control comes days after a truce brokered by Donald Trump.
“Israel will determine which forces are unacceptable to us,” Netanyahu said, claiming the US supports this position. This is a direct challenge to the international community and comes as Hamas refuses to disarm.
Netanyahu has already signaled this veto would be used to block Turkey. US Secretary ofState Marco Rubio, visiting Israel, backed the demand, stating the force must be “comfortable” for Israel.
Rubio also stressed that Hamas will be excluded from Gaza’s future. The force’s composition is still under discussion, with Egypt and Gulf states as potential candidates.
The truce is fragile. An Israeli strike on the Nuseirat camp was called a “clear violation” by Hamas. Moreover, the slow return of hostage remains has prompted a warning from Trump to Hamas.
